Apple Pi(e) for Pi Day, filled with sweet and tart apples and strawberries. Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for the perfect comfort dessert.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and butter together with electric mixer.
Add water to mixer until a dough forms. Do not overmix.
Divide dough into four sections (two pie tops and two pie bottoms). Roll out all four sections.
(Optional) Create stencil of desired pattern using parchment paper. Use knife to trace stencil out onto two rolled out pie tops.
Peel and thinly slice apples.
Wash and de-stem strawberries.
In separate mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
Divide dry bowl ingredients into two halves and mix one half into the apples and the other into the strawberries.
Place two pie crust bottoms in pie pans.
Fill each pie with both fillings to match up with cut out designs.
Gently flip pie crust tops onto filled pies and seal edges.
Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes until golden brown.
(Optional) Serve warm or cold, with or without whipped cream and vanilla ice cream.
